Inital Ideas of Props for our Film Opening

For our film opening we have to consider the different types of props that we will need to be inkeeping with the genre of horror and to make the film seem more professional. Even though we as an audience may not notice every prop that the film directors and producers put in they are all needed in this way to set the scene and to make it look like they haven't put them there on purpose. For example, if you were filming in a house, in the kitchen there would be utensils that there would be in a kitchen. Even though the audience may think or say they could have just gone into a random kitchen and filmed, the producers and directors have to be really careful about props. Even some props can foreshadow what can happen to characters. In certain films there will be props placed like road signs to connotate and foreshadow the death of another character. Therefore, in our film we have thought very carefully about our props:
Crime Scene Tape: This will be used when we see the girls that have been killed at the scene of the crime in the jumpcuts from the television being panned across the room. This will make the scene of the crime more realistic as if they were the pictures that the police have taken as the 'at the scene of the crime' photographs.

Fake Blood: This fake blood will be used across pictures, on the girls clothing to make their death more effective to the audience. This will also be used on the serial killer's hand when he crosses out the photographs.

A desk or chest of draws: This is the kind of furniture that we will need when filming the opening. This will just be needed for the television to sit on as we can't have the television laying on the floor as it wouldn't be realistic and very hard to film if we are to pan across the room.

Knives: We will need a couple of knives maybe lying around the room on the windowsill, perhaps with blood on just so that from the blood on the killer's hand and on the knife it will give the connotations of death in the opening.

Television: We will need a television in the opening of the film as we will need to hear the news report through something. Without the television we would just hear a voiceover of the news report which would seem unrealistic.

Photos of victims: In our film opening sequence we will need a lot of photos of the victims on the wall to create the storyline of the film and to tell the audience that these are the girls that the man has killed. Without the pictures on the wall I feel it would be hard to give the audience an element of knowing where they are and the location would be very confusing.
